VinPro in the Community
We’re proud to be part of the wider Central Otago community as we work together to create a thriving environment for our businesses and families. Find out about some of the events we’ve been involved in and news about what’s coming up.
Supporting the Battle Against Cancer
VinPro are very proud of our staff and their families. Marcelle, Murray, Rebecca, Roger, Matt, Linda, Haley, Shelley, Murray, Jo, Leon, Neroli, Vicki, Graeme, Jess, Josh and Laura who all recently completed the Central Otago Relay for Life in aid of Cancer Society New Zealand.
The team raised close to $1,000 through a scratchie raffle, art work auction, breakfast and barbeque with VinPro providing the food and matching the fundraising efforts of the team. VinPro also provided a water tanker for the 24 hours, ensuring all competitors had access to fresh water. The event itself generated around $100,000 to help those in Central Otago battling cancer and raise awareness to support the work of the Cancer Society.
The 24 hour relay reaches further than just a fundraiser though. It is a chance for the community to celebrate cancer survivors and remember those who weren’t as fortunate. Team members alternate and run, jog or walk for 24 hours - symbolizing the fact that cancer never sleeps. For those continuing on through the night, thoughts of stopping are dispelled by the light from personalized candle bags placed around the track. Warehouse and logistics manager Marcelle explains, “It was really hard work, especially between 1am and 7am but nothing compared to those battling with cancer, motivation was never in doubt”. Whilst the cause may be a serious one, there was a fantastic atmosphere off track with activities and entertainment for those waiting to start their stint (or those in need of a massage after finishing).
Morley says, “Everyone put in an incredible effort, not just on the day but also in the lead up to the event. We couldn’t be prouder to have these people on our team.
Goldengate Trashion Show
You would have been forgiven for thinking you were in London or Paris at the Goldengate Trashion show in Cromwell. VinPro’s Amy Kubala and Toni Andrews had spent between 50 and 60 hours painstakingly putting together their entry.
“We are very proud of the hard work put into the Goldengate Trashion Show by our two staff members Amy Kubala and Toni Andrews and extremely grateful to Mark 2, Rockburn and Wooing Tree for kindly donating the labels”, Administration and HR Manager Rebecca explains, “The theme of the show was the seven deadly sins and they decided that gluttony and over indulgence would be the most suitable”. After hours of hard work the girls came second overall. A fantastic effort and the dress certainly had the WOW factor!
“We’ve had some fantastic feedback” said Amy, “clients and members of the public have been dropping in to have a look and can’t believe it’s made from labels, caps and glass.”
Rebecca continues, “It is great to have staff members who are keen to represent VinPro at community events and the feedback we’ve had has been unbelievable. We’ve at least two clients looking to enter next year where the theme is the four seasons.”
The dress is proudly displayed in our reception area so drop in and have a look!
